The Classic Fragrance
Claire Burke's Original Vapourri is a classic fragrance for a home. I grew up with this scent. When I would visit my auntie's big rambling Victorian home in Cleveland Heights in the fifties and sixties I could be sure of a few things: fun new foods to try sleeping upstairs in the third floor bedrooms having a bath in the claw-foot tub and this fragrance wafting throughout the house. I associate this scent with a traditional home filled with wonderful family life and heirlooms.
Claire Burke's Original Vapourri is flowery from rose and lavender but not too flowery. It's not too spicy but the vetiver and amber in it keeps it from being sweet. It's not overstrong where you want to open up a window when you use it but it's not the type to dissipate so fast you wonder if you used it either. It's a soft fragrance used in the spray in tiny bursts so one canister lasts a long time. I have put one of the oil-reed scent diffusers up on top of my grandfather clock on the landing of my stairwell so that the scent is not just in my bathrooms where the spray canisters "live." When people come to my home they usually say "Your house always smells so nice. What is that?"
Not easy to find in retail stores any more. Glad that Amazon.com carries the whole line!
